Shah's Widow Farah Pahlavi Warns Khamenei's Death Alone Won't Topple Islamic Republic
Farah Pahlavi, the 87-year-old widow of Iran's last shah, warned Tuesday from Paris that the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei will not automatically dismantle the Islamic Republic, saying "the passing of a man — however central he may be to the architecture of power — does not automatically mean the end of a system." Speaking from her home in the French capital, she urged the international community to support Iranian sovereignty and the right of the Iranian people to self-determination rather than advancing geopolitical interests. Pahlavi revealed that her son Reza Pahlavi, the exiled crown prince, is actively preparing for a possible political transition in Iran. She called on Iranian authorities to avoid bloodshed as the country faces an unprecedented leadership vacuum following Khamenei's killing in a joint US-Israeli strike.
