Iranian Strikes Gut Gulf Energy Infrastructure; Global Gas Prices Surge 60% as Qatar LNG Halts
Iran has targeted energy infrastructure across at least six Gulf states since Operation Epic Fury began, striking Qatar's Ras Laffan LNG facility -- the world's largest -- and forcing QatarEnergy to suspend production and declare force majeure. Additional strikes hit oil refineries and fuel depots in Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Oman, with Iraq's largest oil field also offline. Natural gas prices surged more than 60% in Europe and 40% in Asia, with analysts warning the economic disruption could rival the shock caused by Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine.
